Officials Eye Full Membership in European Space Agency
The Space Affairs Council, based in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, has proposed that the government begin negotiations to become a full member of the European Space Agency.
Speaker of Parliament Ene Ergma, who is an astronomer by training and chairs the council, told lawmakers today that Estonia is ripe for full membership in the space agency.
Estonia became a space country last May, Ergma said, after the launch of ESTCube-1.
"ESTCube-1 caught the wind in its sails and is successfully flying above us at a height of 600 kilometers," she said.
