Sports Roundup: Ski Championship, Basketball, Football
In the annual Estonian cross-country championship on Sunday, Algo Kärp ran away with the title with a time of 2:19 after the favorite, Aivar Rehemaa, discontinued the 50-kilometer race.
Tatjana Mannima won the women's 30-kilometer event, sport.err.ee reported.
In the doubles sprint event, Karel Tammjärv and Peeter Kümmel beat out Raido Ränkel and Anti Saarepuu to claim the Estonian championship. Laura Rohtla and Triin Ojaste came out on top in the women's race.
Basketball season ending
This year's regular basketball season came to a close on the weekend as Kalev/Cramo beat TTÜ to claim first place. University of Tartu Rock won an equal number of games during the season - 28 of 32 - but lost out due to a worse head-to-head score.
The season will continue with playoffs.
Football scores
Nõmme Kalju ended FC Levadia's perfect season on Saturday by defeating them 1-0 with a superb strike by the Japanese player Hidetoshi Wakui, who is the season's top scorer with six goals.
FC Flora defeated Narva Trans 0-3 to move up to first place in the Meistriliiga.
In the surprise result of the week, Paide claimed its first win by seeing off Sillamäe Kalev 2-1 in front of 180 fans.
After four rounds, the lead is as follows: FC Flora - 10 points, Nõmme Kalju - 10 points, FC Levadia - 9 points, Sillamäe Kalev - 7 points.
The two leaders will face each other on Saturday in Tallinn's Sportland Arena at 14:00 local time.
