Ethiopians, Kenyans Share the Spoils in Tallinn Marathon (2)

Ethiopian runner Tesfaye Dadi Beyene won the Tallinn Marathon on Sunday with a time of 2:15:01, beating the best Estonian, Roman Fosti, by 5 minutes and 47 seconds.

Fosti, who ran his second ever marathon, having previously specialized in shorter distances, came sixth and recorded a personal best time.

Runners from Kenya and Ethiopia came second and third in the 42-kilometer event, while Kenyan Irene Chepkirui won the women's event, followed by an Ethiopian.

Lily Luik, one of three marathon-running Estonian triplets, claimed fourth place with a time of 2:50:17, 15 minutes behind Chepkirui.

In the half marathon event, local Kaur Kivistik claimed third place, beaten only by runners from Latvia and Kenya. Jekaterina Patjuk of Estonia won the women's 21 km race.

A Kenyan also won the 10 km event, and was followed by five Estonian runners.
