Madis Müür, who broke Estonian records for poker earnings, walking away with 425,000 euros from a tournament last week, will have to hand over half of that to investors who bet on his success at the tournament.

The investors, who included a few Estonians, one investment fund and two other players, paid Müür a total of around 5,000 euros before the tournament, and can now claim 225,000 euros, Äripäev reported today.

“Various risk minimization schemes are popular in poker,” Müür said, adding that selling between 30 to 70 percent of possible earnings is the most common of these, but most investments will receive nothing back and the average return is between 5 and 20 percent.
