Estonia Defeats Poland in Football Friendly
On Wednesday night, the Estonian national football team scored 1-0 against Poland, beating the two-time world championship bronze medalist and this year's European championship co-organizer.
It was the first time this season that the Estonian team has won a friendly at home. The match also marked the last friendly for both before next month's World Cup qualifiers.
Though the home team enjoys a slightly higher position in the August FIFA rankings - 49th to Poland's 54th - most oddsmakers were favoring the white and reds, and it's easy to see why.
Before Wednesday, Estonia lost four of the six matches it has played since the beginning of the year. Its last win came against Lithuania in the Baltic Cup in early June, where it finished third out of fourth in the tournament.
Poland, meanwhile, has a stronger win-loss record for the year and also had the opportunity to sharpen its teeth at the Euro 2012 in June.
