Football League Entering Final Stretch
FC Levadia is in pole position to claim the Estonian football league title after scoring the winner on the 90th minute against second-place Nõmme Kalju yesterday, with only five games left to play.
Levadia took the lead on the 65th minute through Rimo Hunt, who is now top scorer along with Kalju's Vladimir Voskoboinikov. Last year's champions Kalju equalized with 11 minutes to go, but national team defender Dmitri Kruglov rocketed a shot from 15 meters into the back of the net, handing Levadia all three points.
Levadia now lead with five points, but both teams have tough games ahead, with Levadia traveling to fourth-place Sillamäe, then hosting third-place Flora, while Kalju take on Flora, then face a potentially tricky away game against Narva Trans.
A more interesting duel could be between Flora and Sillamäe, who are battling for third. Flora has 61 points, 10 behind Kalju, but Sillamäe is on 60 pints with one game in hand.
The league ends on November 9, with Flora playing against Sillamäe in Tallinn.
