Otepää Cross-Country Championship to Go Ahead
The Otepää cross-country skiing World Championship event will go ahead as planned on January 21 and 22, the organizers decided today.
"The weather forecast is looking good," head organizer Jaak Mae told sport.err.ee.
With snow stored from last year, artificial snow, and finally the first significant snowfall of the season, a track can be built to meet the minimum length requirement of 2.5 kilometers.
However, it is still not clear whether side events - the ski jump and a snowboarding competition - will take place.
As for the main, classical-style cross-country program, the sprint event (1.4 km for men and 1.2 km for women) will take place on the first day, and the staggered-start regular distance (15 km for men and 10 km for women) will take place on the second day.
