Tartu Marathon Still Has Room, May Not Fill Up
The main organizer of the 41st Tartu ski marathon says that there are still 2,500 places remaining for participants.
They have planned for 10,000 skiers for the two distances, and slightly under 7,400 had registered by midday on February 16.
Kelk said he thought not many would wait till the last minute. "First of all the participation fee was set high on purpose so people would not wait until the last minute. Second, winter started late this year in Estonia and got pretty ferocious so people have not had good training conditions," he said on ETV
Kelk said it did not look like the marathon would be skied in very cold conditions. Rather, it looks like low-pressure systems will bring windy weather with some precipitation and temperatures just under freezing on February 19. He advised skiers to dress accordingly, donning a shell against the wind.
