Nabi Takes Silver at World Championships
Olympic medalist wrestler Heiki Nabi won the silver medal at the World Championships in Budapest late on Sunday.
Nabi lost 4-0 to Iranian Amir Aliakpari in the final of the heavyweight Greco-Roman wrestling competition.
“The preparations [for the World Championship] were different - fewer tournaments and training camps. In the last month and a half or two, I managed to get into good shape and of course, I was happy with that,” Nabi said, adding that the new format whereby matches last two periods of three minutes (previously it was 3 x 2) worked to his advantage.
Nabi's results have been mixed in recent years. Having won the World Championships in 2006, Nabi placed only 27th in the last tournament, held in 2011.
At the European Championships in March, Nabi came 14th.
