Kanepi Descends in Fresh WTA Rankings
Having lost in the opening round of Wimbledon, tennis player Kaia Kanepi cascaded from 17th to 26th place when the new WTA rankings were posted on July 4.
Kanepi, whose all-time best is 16th, will continue to lose ground, according to Postimees, while she takes a break from competitiion. Last September, the woman was a rising star, making it into the quarter finals of the US Open.
Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark continues to lead women's tennis, and is followed by Belgian Kim Clijsters and Russian Vera Zvonareva.
On a positive note for Estonians, Jürgen Zopp reached a personal best, placing 186th in men's tennis.
Fresh Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic became the world's number one in the men's rankings, followed by former leader Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.
