Volleyball: Estonia Defeats Portugal 3-0
The Estonian men's national volleyball team is moving ahead in the European championships after defeating Portugal 3-0 in Pool B's last preliminary round match, held in the Czech Republic on September 12.
The game started off evenly for both of the teams, but after the first technical recess, Estonia was able to pull ahead, putting the score at 8-6. The Portuguese side, however, managed to even the score at 23 all until the Estonians responded with a successful block and a strong serve, winning the set 25-23.
In the second set, Estonia took the lead in the first few minutes of play, defeating the opponents 25-17.
The situation was reversed in the third set, however, with Estonia's opponents taking the early lead. Nevertheless, in the final minutes of the game, the Estonian team managed to push forward and beat Portugal 25-23.
The win against Portugal means that Estonia goes on to face Bulgaria, which holds second place in Pool D, in a quarterfinal match on September 14.
