One of Estonia's most-famous sons, now retired footballer Mart Poom, has seen his autobiography nearly sell out its first edition.

Apollo alone has sold around 7,000 copies, priced at around 25 euros, Postimees reported, adding that usually books in Estonia have a 1,200 circulation.

Rahva Raamat, the second largest book store chain in the country, ordered only 2,000 copies and has sold out in most stores.

Poom plied his trade as a goalkeeper in England between 1994 and 2009, with a short stint back in Estonia between 1995-1997. He played for clubs such as Derby County and Sunderland, and one game for Arsenal, he also won 120 caps for the Estonian national team.

Poom co-wrote the book, which hit the shelves at the beginning of the month, with journalist Indrek Schwede.
