Paet: EOK president could be a part-time position
Reform Party MEP and potential Estonian Olympic Committee (EOK) presidential candidate Urmas Paet feels the position should not have to be full-time.
Paet told BNS that his decision whether to run for president depends on what kind of a person EOK members want to see fill the position.
"One of my feelings here is that the Olympic committee president should not be a full-time, full-paid job so to speak; that is why the committee has a secretary-general and an entire office," Paet said.
EOK president Neinar Seli, convicted of violating procedural restrictions as chairman of the supervisory board of state-owned Port of Tallinn, announced on January 14 that he will resign from office but will continue to perform his duties until April 15 when the committee is set to elect a new president, vice-presidents and executive committee.
EOK executive committee member Helir-Valdor Seeder said that he believes the president should be committed to the position full-time.
