The Estonian Volleyball Federation has decided not to renew the contract of the national team's head coach Avo Keel, who took them to two European Championships since his tenure started in 2005.

Keel's team qualified for the 2009 European Championships, beating favorites Poland to win the qualifying group. The team lost all three matches at the tournament and placed 14th out of 16 teams.

At the 2011 tournament, Estonia beat Portugal and came third in the first round group, but lost the second round to Bulgaria and finished 12th overall.

Keel said he is happy to have had a good run, comparing himself to former Prime Minister Andrus Ansip, who also came to power in 2005 and recently left.

Head of the Volleyball Federation, Hanno Pevkur, said the new coach is likely to come from outside of Estonia.

In other volleyball news, Ardo Kreek, Estonia's best volleyball export, won the CEV Volleyball final with his team Paris Volley over the weekend.
