Estonia Rises 1 Spot in FIFA Rankings
The national football team rose by one place to the 58th position in FIFA's world rankings yesterday, which so far has been the highest for Estonia.
The football team landed on the 58th position already in September this year, yet a month later dropped by one spot to 59th.
Estonia's all time lowest place has been 137th, which was posted in October 2008.
Of Estonia's neighbors, Russia is 12th, Sweden 18th, Latvia 68th, Finland 88th and Lithuania 94th.
The top three are Spain, the Netherlands and Germany.
On November 11, the national team lost its Euro 2012 playoff match to the Republic of Ireland held in Tallinn, 0-4. This nearly crushed Estonia's chances of participating it its first-ever UEFA European Football Championship next summer.
At the second game of the playoffs held in Dublin, however, Estonia eked out a 1-1 draw.
