6th Stage of Cycling Series Draws Over 1,000
One of the larger cycling road races in the country has drawn 1,500 registered participants with three days to go.
The Jõulumäe Marathon in Pärnu County in the southwest has a 55 kilometer distance and a 25 kilometer "half-marathon."
The starting gun will go off on August 14 at noon, followed by the start of the 25 km 45 minutes later. Organizers say the route is about the same although some surprise stretches are in store. The weather is expected to improve from the current sub-20 temperatures, but scattered showers are still in the forecast.
The Jõulumäe Marathon is part of the Elion Estonian Cup series. After five stages, it is currently led by Caspar Austa with 7,475 points, ahead of Raido Kodanipork and Erki Pütsep, while the women are led by Ivika Lainevee and the half-marathon by Ekke-Kaur Vosman.
