Pehrsson ahead of Switzerland match: I have the most fit team I've had so far
Estonian football team is flying out today to face Switzerland in Euro qualifier match in Luzerne on Friday evening. Estonia's coach Magnus Pehrsson said the selection of players was easier than ever before.
"I'm happy about the selection because now we have players playing in Estonia in a competitive level, and better level than in last years, together with players playing abroad, and most of them are getting a lot of playing time," Pehrsson told ETV.
"In terms of selection, I have now the most fit team that I have had so far," he added.
"It used to be that whoever played abroad was automatically in the team. The change is significant and it's good," said defender Ken Kallaste when commenting on the trend to call up more locally based players.
The last to be included in Saturday's line-up were FC Levadia Tallinn defender Artur Pikk, whose immediate return to military service after his full debut in Estonia vs England in October made headlines in international media, and Joel Lindpere, former NY Red Bulls midfielder now signed for FC Nõmme Kalju.
Estonia will take on Switzerland on Friday at 21:45 local time.
