Zahovaiko to Quit Hungary's VSC Debrecen
Vjatsheslav Zahovaiko, a 30-year-old striker, is seeking to end his contract with VSC Debrecen, a Hungarian football club that is currently in the lead in its national premier league championship.
Zahovaiko has played 39 games and has scored eight goals for the Estonian National Football team, reported Postimees.
Last summer, he signed a three-year contract with Debrecen. But his time on the field has been minimal in the primary lineup, and he has been mainly used in the B team.
“A combination of different things led me to decide to quit the team. It was my own initiative. The whole thing has been thought through, and this is the right step for me,” said Zahovaiko. “Everything was supposed to end a month ago already, but the club has so far delayed it. I hope to sign the papers tomorrow, but nothing is certain yet.”
Zahovaiko previously played for Portugal's Uniao de Leiria. He said there are no new clubs on the horizon yet.
“I'm taking it one step at a time. I first want to leave here as a free man, and after that I will start to think about my next steps - where and with whom to train, and whether to train at all,” said Zahovaiko.
