Levadia on Verge of Title After Defeating Flora
FC Levadia claimed all three points in what was dubbed the “title decider” on Saturday against second place FC Flora.
Flora, beginning the day two points behind Levadia, took the lead through Irakli Logua at the very end of the first half, but Levadia retaliated through Ingemar Teever (59th minute) and Igor Subbotin (77th) to seal the win in front of around 2,000 spectators.
The two teams had faced each other three times before this season, with all games ending in stalemate. Levadia beat third place Nõmme Kalju 3-2 in the previous round.
The win puts Levadia on top five points clear, with Flora second with 73 points. Kalju beat Narva Trans 1-0 to hold on to a mathematical chance to win the title, sitting on 72 points with three games to go.
Levadia will travel to FC Infonet, fifth in the league, in the next round, while Flora travels to Narva to face Trans, which is seventh. Kalju plays last-place Tallinna Kalev.
Levadia finishes the season with easier games against Jõhvi Lokomotiv, second to last, and Trans, while Flora will face Tallinna Kalev and finish up against fourth place Sillamäe Kalev. Kalju will also face Sillamäe, then travel to Tartu for the last game of the season on November 8.
