The past few weeks have seen many top Estonian footballers change clubs, with the most notable examples being Frank Liivak and Henri Anier.

Liivak, much talked about as a more eloquent version of national team record scorer Andres Oper, has ended his time at Napoli and joined Spanish third division team Alcobendas Sport. First team action is thought to be behind the move.

Henri Anier has moved back to Scotland joining Dundee United in a two-and-a-half-year deal. Anier, who has 21 caps for Estonia, failed to make a mark at FC Erzgebirge Aue, currently last in Bundesliga 2.

Another young forward, Igor Subbotin, has joined Mlada Boleslav of the Czech Republic. He previously won Estonian league titles with FC Levadia in 2013 and 2014, and broke into the national team last summer.

Henrik Ojamaa, yet another young Estonian forward, could move to Norway on loan, having failed to cement a place at his current club Legia Warsaw.

Local news

Vladimir Voskoboinikov will begin the new season with Nõmme Kalju, although he said he will leave his options open over a possible move abroad.

Tartu Tammeka is testing four footballers from Congo in hope of strengthening the side which came seventh in the league last season. The footballers are between 18 and 23 years of age.

Levadia has signed Ivan Pecha, 29, on a one-year-contract. The Slovak will be the first footballer with Champions League experience in Estonia's top flight, although that experience came from being substituted into a game between Borisov BATE and Juventus on the last minute, Delfi reported. Pecha played for BATE during the 2008/2009 season.
