Ex-national team head coach Tarmo Rüütli is set to take over the top job at the Estonian premier league club Tallinna Kalev.

Tallinna Kalev disappointed fans by finishing in eighth place last season, escaping relegation playoffs only on the last day. Two players were handed bans for match fixing while head coach Frank Bernhardt complained that the team could not agree on training times.

Before coaching the national team, Rüütli led Viljandi Tulevik, FC Flora and FC Levadia, winning three national league titles.

Top league silver medalist team Nõmme Kalju is planning to build a new football complex, including a stadium, in west Tallinn, near the Rocca al Mare shopping center.

The plans are currently being analyzed by the city's administration, with no construction date yet fixed.

The women's national team has risen to 71st in FIFA rankings, its highest ever position.

USA, Germany and Japan lead the table, with 59 teams sharing the last place (118 to 177), including Argentina, Chile and Egypt, as they have not played the minimum required matches during the last 18 months.

After recent criticism of his allegedly selfish playing style, young Estonian forward Henrik Ojamaa has responded, recording three assists in a Polish league game which his team, Legia Warszawa, won 4-1.

Legia leads the Polish football league with 43 points from 21 games, five more points than the next best team.
