Mart Laar Leaves Intensive Care
Defense Minister Mart Laar, who was hospitalized after a stroke in February, has been released from the North Estonia Medical Center intensive care unit and transferred to a general ward.
"Mart Laar continues to receive treatment at the North Estonia Medical Center, and is recovering. Since yesterday, his condition does not require intensive care. The treatment now focuses mainly on physical therapy," Defense Ministry spokesman Peeter Kuimet told uudised.err.ee today.
Laar went down with a stroke on February 18 while visiting friends. His recovery was complicated by pneumonia caught during his stay at the hospital.
During Laar's absence, his ministerial duties are being carried out by Minister of Education Jaak Aaviksoo.
