The first visit of an Estonian naval ship to a Russian port is drawing large crowds in St. Petersburg, with 13,000 people touring the minehunter Admiral Cowan over the weekend.

In addition to local sightseers, a number of high-ranking Russian navy officers also visited the ship, which was in Russia as part of a six-vessel NATO mine clearing squadron.

The squadron includes ships from Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway and Germany. It is scheduled to practice naval maneuvers with two Russian frigates before heading to Helsinki on Thursday.
