A humanitarian aid drive for Syrian refugees in Turkey, organized as a joint initiative by Estonian Muslims and Christians, has exceeded expectations.

With collection points set up all over Estonia, organizers had initially planned for one shipping container of supplies, such as winter clothes and toys, but they have collected enough for three containers, reported ETV.

The problem now is that they have only have enough money to send one large and one small container, around 2,000 euros.

Organizer Jaana Aishah, who will be flying to Turkey to volunteer at a refugee camp in a few days, said they will seek additional cash donations until the deadline in early October.

The initiative is also seeking volunteers to help organize, pack and label the donations.
