Military and Businesses Set to Practice Wartime Cooperation
Various departments of the Ministry of Defense and four private companies are set to take part in a joint exercise called Kratt 2013, this week, to practice using civilian resources for defense purposes during war.
“The Defense Forces will need the help of the civilian sector to defend the nation,” the defense minister, Urmas Reinsalu, said in a press release today, adding “During wartime the Defense Forces will grow by many fold due to the reserve forces, and to supply those forces we will need additional resources.”
Reinsalu added that private businesses can supply the military with food, fuel, transport and services.
The exercise will be used to study the process and gain experience, after which the necessary laws can be drawn up.
The Defense Resources Board, the Defense Force, the Ministry of Defense will be joined by four private companies, SEBE, DSV Transport, CF&S Estonia and State Resources Center Ltd, which is privately owned, in the exercise.
A kratt is a creature in Estonian mythology, a demon used to fetch material possessions for its handler.
