After a short-lived challenge from rival Õhtuleht, Postimees has taken back its position as leader in print newspaper circulation for a second straight month.

According to the figures from uudised.err.ee, Postimees printed 51,400 copies (down 3,600 from a year ago) while rival Õhtuleht had 50,600 (down 700). Eesti Päevaleht was third with 22,500 copies (2,400 fewer).

Just as it battles with Delfi (affiliated with Eesti Päevaleht) for supremacy in online media, Postimees and the "evening paper" Õhtuleht are archrivals in the print versions.

Äripäev, the business daily printed on red-tinged newsprint, had 12,500 copies.

Weeklies were led by Maaleht (42,700) and Eesti Ekspress (33,400)

For comparison, the last recent peak for newspaper print runs was in 2007: Postimees had 69,000, Õhtuleht 65,000, Ekspress 47,000, Maaleht 45,000, Päevaleht 40,000 and Äripäev 26,000 copies.
