Road Administration Distributes 22,000 Reflectors
In a proactive approach to increasing pedestrian safety, the Road Administration has delivered 22,000 pedestrian reflective devices to the Police and Border Guard for preventing traffic accidents.
Beat cops will distribute these reflective devices to people who do not have them, with a special focus on people walking on unilluminated roads between towns.
Police traffic bureau commissioner Riho Tänak emphasized the role of the reflectors in accident prevention.
"I am convinced that no driver will purposely strike a pedestrian. The farther the pedestrian can be seen, the more likely the accident can be prevented," he told uudised.err.ee.
He said that pedestrians not wearing a reflector were only visible at a distance of 30 meters, even if they were in a car's headlights.
