Tallinn to Build Crematory for Pets
Tallinn City Government plans to open a cremation center for pets, a project that has been allocated 80,000 euros.
However, a company called Cremo already began offering the same service in September in Maardu municipality, just outside of Tallinn, reported Delfi. Cremo representatives have called Tallinn's bid for a competing establishment "peculiar."
Although the company offers free transportation for beloved pets that have passed away, Tallinn has said that the Maardu location is too far away.
An official from Tallinn’s Department of Environment also charged that the existing cremation center is not operating under a valid license. But Cremo has said this is a false accusation, having been issued a permit by the Veterinary and Food Administration in November.
