Government allocates €8.4 million extra funding for defense
Estonian Government allocated today 8.4 million euros from the state reserve to cover the increased defense expenditure.
The extra funding will be shared between the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, and Ministry of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure.
Defense Ministry said that the money will mostly go to cover the costs of accommodating Allied forces in Estonia.
The Government decided in summer that in the changed security circumstances, the additional costs that are required to host 150 US troops in Tapa and four NATO aircraft at Ämari Air Base, will not be deducted from the defense budget, but an extra funding will be provided.
Estonia's defense budget is 384 million euros this year.
