Estonia Sued by EC Over Failure to Pass Environmental Information Legislation
The European Commission is taking Estonia and Poland to court over failure to implement environmental legislation that simplifies information sharing between countries in critical areas.
In spite of the opinions submitted to Estonia and Poland during proceedings, neither has yet adopted legal acts on spatial data infrastructure.
The requirement was that the legislation be passed by 15 May 2009. EU Commissioner for the Environment Janez Potočnik has now recommended action in the European Court.
