The Royal Danish Air Force today handed over the Baltic Air Policing Mission at Ämari over to the Germans.

The next four months will be covered by four German Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets, with 150 German crew members also stationed at Ämari.

Reinhard Wiemer of the German Embassy in Tallinn said the Ämari mission is a responsibility in facing the new security challenges, which were not present a year ago.

The jets arrived at Ämari on Thursday. The German Air Force has previously participated in six rotations of the mission in Lithuania.
