Troops Return From Africa
The 50 Estonian soldiers stationed in the Central African Republic for the past month as part of a peacekeeping mission have returned to Estonia.
The troops, who conducted patrols and supported minor operations in nation, landed in Tallinn last night.
With the soldiers returning Estonia has no combat troops on foreign missions since going into Iraq in 2003, and with no plans for new military missions.
The EU peacekeeping mission in the African state will last until the end of the year.
Although tensions with ally France arose over the latter planning to go through with sale of military hardware to Russia, the Mistral ship deal was not officially cited as a factor in the decision not to extend the Estonian participation on the mission.
