Man threatening to kill the Prime Minister now in preliminary court hearing
The Harju County Court held a preliminary hearing yesterday in the case of a man who threatened to kill Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas. The court will continue with a second hearing next week.
According to the court, the parties to the case discussed procedural questions in the Monday hearing. The next hearing was set for February 8.
Officers of the Central Criminal Police arrested 33-year-old Martin Kattai in October last year. He had posted threats against the Prime Minister on social media.
The posts on the basis of which action was taken contained, among other things, information about the Prime Minister’s home and security routines.
Kattai denied any wrongdoing and wants the criminal case dismissed.
If found guilty, he could be sentenced to up to five years in prison.
