MEP Kristiina Ojuland, founder of the Party of People's Unity (Rahva Ühtsuse Erakond), will run for the European Parliament as a single candidate.

The party's spokesperson Anita Luik told uudised.err.ee that the party endorsed Ojuland's candidacy on Saturday.

Ojuland recently faced expulsion from the parliament for accepting luxury accommodation from Azerbaijan's parliament while serving as an election observer, but was let off with a warning.

She has previously said she was unlikely to re-run for the European Parliament, preferring to concentrate on building her own political party in Estonia.

The party currently has 101 members and hopes to reach the required minimum of 500 members as soon as possible. It was tangled in a name row with the alternative theater NO99 for picking the title of the theater's performance as the name for the party. It chose its current name due to the ensuing controversy.
