Estonia's ambassador to Moscow to take helm at influential think tank
Estonia's ambassador to Moscow, Jüri Luik, has been named as the new head of the International Center for Defense and Security, based in Tallinn.
Luik will take over from current director Matthew Bryza on August 1 with Bryza moving to the Supervisory Board.
Mikk Marran, who chairs the Supervisory Board, said the center will get a very capable head. “Ambassador Jüri Luik is one of Estonia's most influential security policy experts and an internationally renowned analyst,” adding that Luik will develop the center into one of the region's top think tanks.
Defense Minister Sven Mikser said Luik will help further Estonia's calling card as a future-orientated security expert.
Luik has held three ministerial posts, including defense twice and the Foreign Ministry once.
The state-funded think tank focuses on security issues, gives out the monthly magazine Diplomaatia and organizes the annual Lennart Meri Conference.
