Rõivas demands zero tolerance on Vao arson
Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas said the attack on asylum seekers' accommodation center last night was a brutal crime and its interpretation is not a matter of opinion.
"The fact that a home of 70, with 13 children in it, is torched at night when people are asleep - I have no words to describe it," the prime minister said at the government's press conference. "It's a very brutal crime."
According to him, the security measures at the refugee center will be reviewed, and stepped up if necessary.
Rõivas also said a zero tolerance approach should be taken toward what happened in Vao.
Minister of Justice Urmas Reinsalu, IRL, called the attack cowardly and vile. "Although the investigation was launched into arson, the crime itself, which aimed to burn down the home of families with children, can be qualified as a homicide or attempted murder."
Reinsalu added that the only way the state can react is to this is concentrate all its resources on finding the person(s) responsible.
