Herkel: Anti-Western Sentiment in Russia Could Increase
Russia has shifted the blame on the crashed Malaysia Airlines flight onto Ukraine, saying it happened in Ukrainian territory and would not have happened, had the government not attacked the separatists, says Estonian MP Andres Herkel.
Although Russian President Vladimir Putin did not say it was the Ukrainian army that shot down the aircraft, such a myth could expand in Russia, increasing hatred towards the West, he told Delfi today.
He said something was needed to keep people in Russia brainwashed and silence the critics.
The West must again thing about harsher sanctions, including the Mistral sale, which is now even more uncomfortable for France.
