Toom Vote Unacceptable, Says Paet
Foreign Minister Urmas Paet has called Estonian MEP Yana Toom's vote against a European Parliament resolution calling for Russia to back a peace plan for Ukraine and for Europe to impose an arms embargo on Russia, unacceptable.
“Taking also into account the tragic air crash, which could have been avoided if the saga of Russia interfering in Ukraine in the past months had not taken place. For that reason such behavior or such voting is not acceptable to me,” Paet told ETV on Thursday.
Center Party Deputy Chairman Kadri Simson said Toom should consult her party on important issues to avoid any damage to the party.
Toom told Delfi that the resolution was too strong on Russia and unbalanced, adding that it left an impression that the EU had picked sides.
