Forum Explores Impacts of Globalization on Universities
Experts and politicians will discuss in Tallinn the preparedness of universities to cope with globalization at a forum put on by the Archimedes Foundation and the Ministry of Education from October 6 to 7.
The first day of the event will focus on the openness of Estonian universities towards foreign students.
By the year 2015, an estimated 2,000 foreign students will be studying in Estonian universities. Currently there are 1,319 international students, or 2 percent of the total number of college students, according to the Archimedes Foundation.
Participants will also address the issues and opportunities of freshly graduated students entering the global labor market.
On October 7, the focus will be setting new milestones for the development of Estonia's higher education system, during which the rector of the University of Tartu, Alar Karis, and Minister of Education Jaak Aaviksoo will be introducing new reforms.
