Tallinn Hosts World Cleanup Conference
Representatives from 45 countries will be gathering in Tallinn from January 13 to 15 for the upcoming preliminary event of the global cleanup initiative Let’s Do It World.
During the three-day conference a number of workshops, presentations and roundtables will be held to prepare teams for their national or district-level waste-gathering initiatives.
IT-solutions, teamwork organization, waste management, finding partners and fundraising are some of the main topics on the agenda.
All participants will also be given the opportunity to get acquainted with Estonia's countryside and to test the dump mapping software developed by chief architect of Skype, Ahti Heinla.
According to Rainer Nõlvak, one of the initiators of the movement, organizing cleanups and raising people’s general awareness of waste management is just the first step in the ambitious attitude revolution. "To get people to avoid producing unnecessary waste, a radical change in mindset and other aspects of life is needed," said Nõlvak.
The upcoming global waste cleanup action will start on March 24 and run for six months.
