PM Credits Euro with Drop in Unemployment
Prime Minister Andrus Ansip has once again said that he has no regrets about his administration's decision to adopt the euro, citing what he called clear benefits, including lower unemployment, that he said stemmed from the transition.
"Over the past 18 months the unemployment rate in Estonia has fallen by nearly half. And one reason is that Estonia joined the Eurozone," Ansip said at the weekly government press conference on November 24, as reported by rus.err.ee.
Ansip also said that since the transition to the single European currency, Estonia has become far more attractive to foreign investors. "Look at our results: the economy is growing and exports have also increased markedly," he said.
Estonia joined the Eurozone on January 1 of this year.
