The Foreign Ministry has allocated 50,000 euros to ensure better access to education for junior secondary level students in the Gaza Strip.

The money will be donated through the United Nations Relief and Work Agency for Palestine (UNRWA), which currently aims to help 213,000 students, through developing better infrastructure, furnishing classrooms and providing better teaching materials.

In September, the UNRWA announced that in order to continue with the education program next year, around 26.1 million euros is needed. The organization relies almost entirely on donations.

In the last three years, Estonia has allocated around 64,000 euros for humanitarian assistance benefiting the 1.6 million living in Gaza.
