Crown Princess Mary Visits Estonia
Demark's Crown Princess Mary met Tuesday afternoon with President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and First Lady Evelin Ilves as part of a two-day visit to the country.
The focus of the Crown Princess' trip is a two-day conference which is focusing on eliminating bullying in Estonian kindergartens and schools. Crown Princess Mary gave the keynote speech at the conference Tuesday morning, which is organized by the Estonian Ombudsman for Children and the Estonian Association for Child Welfare.
She also participated in the renovated opening of the Danish King's Garden in Old Town along with Tallinn mayor Edgar Savisaar. The garden is on the slopes of Toompea hill and is the legendary birthplace of the Danish flag. King Valdemar II of Denmark and his troops supposedly camped at the spot before conquering Toompea in 1219, and the garden was renovated last year, in part with support from the Danish Queen Margrethe.
Today, the Crown Princess will visit the Kadriorg German School, which since 2013 has been part of an anti-bullying pilot project that was launched in 25 schools in Estonia. She will also visit the Estonian Children's Literature Center and participate in a lunch at the Danish embassy, and a concert and reception at the House of the Blackheads for Danes living in Estonia .
