Estonia Holds Steady in UNHD Index
Like last year, Estonia is 33rd in the United Nations Human Development report - ahead of neighbors to the south and east but not making further inroads on countries to the west.
According to the report compiled by the United Nations Development Program, the top 49 of the 187 countries have a very high human development.
Lithuania was 35th and Latvia, 48th. Sweden was 12th, Finland 24th and Russia 57th.
Estonia was 34th in 2011 and 2012 and 33rd in 2013.
Its closest neighbors in the rankings are Cyprus and Saudia Arabia.
Factors that are considered in the index include average life expectancy, educational level, technological progress and per capita GDP.
