Homeowners Chide Eesti Energia Amidst Power Outages
A statement from the Homeowners' Association criticizes Eesti Energia, which was still struggling this morning to restore power to 15,800 clients after the storm subsided three days ago.
Although network fees were raised in the summer to boost quality, tens of thousands are repeatedly left without power after “every little storm,” said an association representative, Priit Värk. He recalled President Ilves's criticism in August, in which Ilves expressed dismay that a publicly owned company making investments in the Middle East and the US is skimping on investments for underground power lines.
Värk said around a dozen homeowners have turned to the association in recent days, worried that hundreds of euros worth of damage caused by power outages will not be sufficiently compensated. The most serious damages are often in the rural areas and on farms, where animals can also suffer as a result, Värk said.
