Sailing Schools Now Have Two Hands on Deck
The Estonian Yachting Union has signed with an oil terminal company to provide a fleet of 29er class boats for Estonian sailing schools.
The public demonstration of the two-man sailing skiffs purchased in cooperation with Vopak E.O.S. will take place at the Seaplane Harbor in Tallinn on May 12.
Secretary general of the Estonian Yachting Union Ott Kallas says adding a new class to youth sailing was important to guarantee a solid crop of competitive athletes in years to come.
"If we look at today's Estonian sailing team, we see one-man classes where we have strong, high-potential athletes on the world level. One reason is certainly that they have been sailing in single-handed boats."
Last year the youth team did not have even one two-man skiff, but it now has 26 double-hande boats - the eight bought with the help of Vopak E.O.S. and 18 RS Feva dinghies bought last spring, also with support from the oil terminal company.
