Estonian places second at Tallinn-hosted badminton tournament
Estonia hosted the Yonex Estonian International badminton cup this weekend. Estonian Kati Tolmoff finished second.
Yonex Estonian International was held at the Sports Hall Kalev in Tallinn, from January 8-11.
The cup also featured Estonian number ones Raul Must and Kati Tolmoff, seeded second and third in men's and women's singles respectively. Must had to accept a suprise defeat in the semifinals from a Finnish player, Anton Kaisti, who went on to win the tournament, beating UK's Toby Penty in the final 21-16, 21-16.
Kati Tolmoff was beaten by the first-seeded Russian Olga Golonova in the ladies' final.
The pairs' titles went to Laurent Constantin and Matthieu Lo Ying Ping from France, Victoria Dergunova and Olga Morozova from Russia, and Amanda Madsen and Kasper Antonsen from Denmark.
This was the sixth time that an international series badminton cup, organized by Badminton Estonia, took place in Tallinn. The tournament featured over 200 players from 28 countries.
Quarterfinals were held at 10:00 on Saturday morning and semifinals at 16:00 in the afternoon. The finals were played on Sunday morning at 10:00.
