Snowboard, Freeski Championship to Kick Off in Otepää
The Estonian Open Championship in snowboard and freeski is set to take place on Kuutsemägi hill in Otepää this Saturday.
The championship is the fifth competition in the six-event Ride In Baltic tour, which will determine the Baltic champions.
Freeskiing, also called Newschool, is a type of competition where skiers perform tricks and jumps on various obsticles. The event's growing popularity around the world has earned it a debut spot at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
In the run-up to the Otepää championship, Estonia’s Ivika Jürgenson is leading the women’s group in snowboarding, while the Estonian with the highest position in freeski is Ott Kärson, currently second in the men’s group.
