Zahovaiko Third Estonian to Join KuPS
Footballer Vjatsheslav Zahovaiko has signed with the Finnish Premier League club KuPS, becoming the third Estonian national team member to do so in as many weeks.
Midfielder Sander Puri was picked up by the Kuopio-based club on March 26, while Ats Purje joined a few days later.
Like those of his compatriots, Zahovaiko's contract runs until the end of the season, soccernet.ee reported.
“I am happy with the KuPS contract. My first impressions are positive,” Zahovaiko was quoted on the club's website. “I could immediately see the team's professionalism, the coach is an experienced specialist and the players are good and friendly. They're easy to get along with.”
The 30-year-old striker had been a free agent since he quit the Hungarian Premier League club Debreceni VSC in mid-March.
KuPS will start its season on Sunday with a home game against JJK Jyväskylä.
