Ailing Kanepi Bows Out of Paris Tournament
Estonia's top tennis player, Kaia Kanepi, was forced to pull out of the Open GDF SUEZ in Paris on February 6 due to a sore shoulder.
“Kaia was to meet Christina McHale in the opening round, but the light shoulder pain she has been feeling over the last two weeks deepened during Monday's workout and Kaia was forced to abandon the tournament,” a statement on Kanepi's website said.
The 26-year-old recently suffered another blow when she was knocked out of the Australian Open in a round two upset.
In this week's WTA rankings, also released February 6, Kanepi held onto her spot at number 25.
